Why You Should Care about Ninjas

Well, the national results are in for the 2008 Diesel Film Race. My film did not place in the top 5, and neither did this one, which I thought was a bunch of bologna. I think the judges made some shitty decisions, but hey, what can you do. Here's a film that also did not place.

For another funny "ninja related" film go a couple posts down and watch Checkout.

Exciting News from Razor USA

Apparently my little RipStik movie that I made last spring entitled "Grip it & Rip it" has made it's way across the country to the lovely people of California. In the last week I have been contacted by both RipStik USA and RazorUSA. They just happened to love this little film and the marketing people at RazorUSA (as in razor scooters) have asked me to do a series of online videos for them in order to promote the new Razor RipStik. I will update when I know more details. Here is the video.

Checkout - by Dan Eckman

This is a student film directed and co-written by Dan Eckman who is known now for directing the comedy sketches of Derrick Comedy. It's a bit long but it's definitely worth the watch if you have the time. One of the best student films I've ever seen.

Black Dynamite Trailer

Black Dynamite is pretty much an homage to "Blaxploitation" films from the late 60's and 70's. Movies that portrayed black men as overly aggressive badasses that were not a threat to the white man but an asset. These films were made during a downfall in Box Office numbers when Studios decided that they needed to bring more black people in to the theater who had become tiresome, along with critics, of Sidney Poitiers characters who seemed to always only exist to solve the white folks problems. check out the trailer below.

Where the Wild Things Are

Spike Jonze, for some time now, has been directing an adaptation of Maurice Sendak's children's book "Where the Wild Things Are". The screenplay was written by Dave Eggers and Jonze himself. Jonze, who has always directed off-beat films, has worked with writer Charlie Kaufman on two occasions to make two of my favorite films ever (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation). The movie has been under production for a very long time and is in the middle of yet another re-shoot. Apparently some of the test screenings did not go so well resulting in kids crying and some even fleeing the theater. The studio believes that Jonze's vision was great yet a bit too dark to be able to appeal to the masses that they desire. I would love to have seen the original version although I'm sure that the final cut will still be excellent. The film was originally supposed to be released in October 2008 but now is set to be released sometime in mid to late 2009. I await the day that I can see some actual footage of what the final version will look like but until then here are a few screenshots.

this was some test footage they shot a while ago. The actual animals will not look like this in the final version for I believe that they decided to do them completely in CGI. I'm not sure why cause I thought this shit looked sick.

Welcome to Tan and Tope

Hello everybody and welcome to my blog. I created this blog so that I could share things about the Film Industry, Music Industry, Comedy, Entertainment, Photography, Art, Culture Etc. with the world. I will regularly update the site with Video Clips, Interviews, Comedy Sketches, Photo Galleries, and anything that I like and think that you might want to see. I will also use this site to keep everyone updated on things that I myself am doing in my own pursuit of filmmaking and try to post my own work regularly. This blog has nothing to do with the colors tan or taupe. El Fuego es Caliente!
